Our Science Officer Elise Raphael has joined the European Mathematical Society (EMS) Mathematics Outreach & Engagement Committee, which organizes the EMS Simon Norton Prize for Mathematics Outreach. Deadline for nominations is 30th April 2024.

An integral part of the EMS mission is to encourage and inspire actions directed towards raising public awareness of the importance of mathematics for contemporary society in a cultural and historical perspective, especially through its Committee for Mathematics Outreach and Engagement. In order to reward and recognize the best mathematical public engagement, the EMS decided, in August 2023, to establish the Simon Norton Prize for Mathematics Outreach at the instigation of the Prize sponsor, the brother of the mathematician Simon Norton.

Principal Guidelines: The EMS Simon Norton Prize for Mathematics Outreach is to be awarded to individuals, teams or partnerships whose work in any area of mathematics engagement has had an outstanding and demonstrable impact or influence on its audience. This should have taken place in the two years preceding the nomination.
