Description

Over 50 years ago, Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) emerged as the fundamental description of the strong nuclear interactions. Another major milestone was the formulation in 1974 of the large N limit of QCD where the planar Feynman diagrams make the dominant contributions. This exhibited a connection of QCD with weakly coupled string theory, which has stimulated a great deal of research for 50 years. The workshop “Confining Strings” will survey the recent progress in the ongoing research on quark confinement, with an emphasis on the dynamics of confining strings and the 1/N expansions. The workshop will be co-sponsored by the Simons Collaboration on Confinement and QCD Strings.
